American chipmaker Qualcomm recently released a light version of the Snapdragon 888SC called the Snapdragon 780G. This chipset can be seen on the latest upper mid-range smartphones and will soon get a slightly downgraded version of the dubbed Snapdragon 775G.

According to a Chinese tester, the Snapdragon 775G (SM7325) will arrive first on the Honor 50, which is expected to be released sometime next month. The report does not come from any other well-known tipster, digital chat station.

The Honor 50 is going to be the base model in the lineup of Honor 50, Honor 50, Honor 50 Pro, and Honor 50 Pro +. The top end model, the Honor 50 Pro +, is expected to feature the Snapdragon 888SC. The exact launch date is not known, but we expect sales to resume after the chip set reopens in June-July.

As the Honor 50 will be powered by a chipset from an American company, Qualcomm, we're also looking at Google Apps and Services. Huawei's spin-off company may be allowed to return to the smartphone game around the world, almost two years after the US trade ban.

We'll update this space as new information about the Honor 50 series arrives.
